We released our BUTTERFLIES!
After learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, our class watched as caterpillars turned into beautiful butterflies and then we set them free!
Madeline gets Baptized!
Congratulations to our Madeline, who made the decision to join the Catholic Church!
Welcome Madeline, and CONGRATULATIONS! God Bless you!
Palm Sunday
2nd Grade reenacted Jesus and his apostles entering Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover.
Learning About Money
2nd Grade learned about money and how to make change. As a celebration, we created a classroom store and sold our goods (which were handmade) to each other! Enjoy the pictures of our store:
State Quarters
Our class will be collecting state quarters.
Our goal is to get a quarter from each state. If a student finds a state quarter, they can bring it into class and place it on our map. They will then count out 25 cents from a container in the classroom in exchange since state quarters will not be returned. This will be a fun way to learn about the United States and review counting coins!
What's new?
Monday, March 14, 2022-Just a reminder School is closed Monday, March 14, 2022 for a SMA Holiday.
Thursday, March 17, 2022-St. Mary Academy will still have a Tag Day. However, we are postponing the Make A Wish Foundation cause to support a different cause. Please join our efforts to support the refugee children of Ukraine with Project Backpack Brigade.
As per St. Patrick's Day Tag Day, the color scheme is green and blue. If the children still want to wear green and blue that is fine, but we are throwing in blue and yellow as well to support Ukraine.
In order to participate in Tag Day, the children must donate $2 or more and support the cause entirely by dressing in the color scheme. Backpack Brigade is also seeking new or gently used backpacks. St. Mary Academy will be using all the funds collected on Tag Day to purchase school and medical supplies to be placed in the backpacks.
Reminder!
Monday, February 14 is TAG day! Donate $2.00 for the American Heart Association and wear red or pink!
Monday, February 21 is President's Day and there is NO SCHOOL!
Wednesday, February 23--Literature projects AND RUBRIC due.
